TRIP SUMMARY
Day 1: Piuray Lagoon, Chinchero, Maras, Moray
In the morning you will be picked up in Cusco and drive to Chinchero, 40 minutes away, where we will take you along the Piuray Lagoon to the village community of Cuper Bajo. Here you will be welcomed by the village community with music and dance and taken to the community center.
The village community, which lives mainly from handicrafts and agriculture, will then start with you a short hike with llamas (30 to 40 minutes) to the lagoon Piuray. On the way you will pass the ancient Inca ruins and you can enjoy the tranquility and beauty of this area.
Next, you will have the opportunity to learn about traditional weaving and dyeing techniques. You can also purchase these.
The next stop is Moray. Here we will visit 3 huge terrace rings, which are considered to be the agricultural experimental laboratory of the Incas. Then in nearby Maras we will learn how salt is mined at an altitude of 3000 meters. At the end of our excursion we will go to Ollantaytambo, a lively village of Incan origin.
At the end you will be transferred to your hotel.
