The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism has established a policy against the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents (ESNNA).
Peruvian Sunrise has entered into a joint agreement to take action aimed at preventing and eradicating this critical issue.
Commitment of Peruvian Sunrise Against the Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents (ESNNA)
The ESNNA Program and Our Commitment
This program, led by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur), is a comprehensive initiative aimed at social development and the protection of vulnerable groups. It aims to raise awareness and train our country's entire tourism industry in order to prevent and eventually eliminate minor sexual exploitation.
As part of our commitment to the ESNNA program, Peruvian Sunrise has agreed to a Code of Conduct, which must be made public, including its rules and objectives. In addition, we ensure that our employees and suppliers receive adequate training to ensure compliance with all the Code's requirements.
Unfortunately, child trafficking remains a major issue in Peru, but we are committed to combating it. Peruvian Sunrise promotes economic development and improves the quality of life in the communities we visit by practicing ethical tourism. Our commitment to the ESNNA program also contributes to the reduction and elimination of child sexual exploitation.
Actions Under the ESNNA Code
By adhering to the ESNNA Code of Conduct, we commit to implementing and continuously reinforcing a series of actions as part of our activities.
- Staff Training: Our office personnel, as well as our logistics team (guides, cooks, drivers, porters), are adequately trained to contribute to the Code of Conduct. We do not offer or engage in any requests related to child or adolescent sexual tourism, for both ethical and legal reasons.
- Collaboration with Partners: We work closely with our partners (hotels, restaurants, etc.) and their entire staff to ensure compliance with the objectives and commitments of the ESNNA program across all sectors and stages of the tourism services we provide.
- Reporting Violations: We are committed to enforcing the ESNNA Code of Conduct and to reporting to the appropriate authorities when necessary.
Commitment to Social Responsibility
In addition to our commitment to the ESNNA program, Peruvian Sunrise is dedicated to improving the well-being of our country's children. We provide ongoing income for families in our tourist destinations and support children on special occasions.
The actions outlined in the ESNNA Code and Peruvian Sunrise are prioritized in our social responsibility policies. In accordance with our Integrated Management System Policy, we strive to ensure that tourism generates only positive benefits for the region and the country.
At Peruvian Sunrise, we are firmly committed to protecting minors and eradicating sexual exploitation. We believe that tourism can be a powerful tool for positive development, and together, we can make a difference in the lives of many.
