Some Lima Streets Will Be Closed for the Señor de los Milagros Procession

Some streets in Lima will be closed this Wednesday, October 28, during the fourth procession of the Señor de los Milagros, one of the most important religious traditions in Peru.

The procession will start at the Santuario de las Nazarenas and will pass through several streets and avenues in central Lima, including Tacna Avenue, Nicolás de Piérola Avenue, Cañete Street and Alfonso Ugarte Avenue. It will also pass through Venezuela and Bolivia avenues before returning to the sanctuary.

The road closures will start at 6:00 a.m. on October 28 and continue until 4:00 a.m. on October 29. However, the streets will not all stay closed at the same time. The closures will move along with the procession, and roads will reopen after the procession passes.

Public transportation will also have some changes and will use different routes in the areas affected by the procession. The changes will affect services that normally travel along Tacna, Garcilaso de la Vega, Alfonso Ugarte, Venezuela, Bolivia and Nicolás de Piérola avenues.

For travelers in Lima, it is a good idea to plan extra travel time on October 28, especially if you are visiting the Historic Center or other areas along the procession route. The event is also a chance to see one of Lima's most traditional religious celebrations.
