Pope Leo XIV Confirms Seven-Day Visit to Peru This November

Pope Leo XIV will visit Peru from November 11 to 17, 2026, as part of his first pastoral journey to South America since becoming pope. The visit, confirmed by the Vatican, follows stops in Uruguay and Argentina and will include Lima, Chiclayo, Cusco, and Pucallpa, making Peru the country where he will spend the most time during the tour.

The visit will begin in Lima on November 11 with an official welcome at the Government Palace, a private meeting with President Keiko Fujimori, and a thanksgiving Mass at Las Palmas Air Base. The following day, the pope is expected to take part in a youth gathering organized to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the canonization of Toribio de Mogrovejo.

From November 13 to 14, Pope Leo XIV will travel to Chiclayo, where he previously served as bishop. His schedule includes visits to Chiclayo Cathedral, the Sanctuary of Nuestra Señora de la Paz, Universidad Católica Santo Toribio de Mogrovejo, and nearby communities such as Santa Cruz and Zaña. A large outdoor Mass is also planned in the Reque industrial park.

On November 15, the pope will continue his journey in Cusco, where one of the main events is expected to take place at Sacsayhuamán, one of Peru's most important archaeological sites. The following day, he will visit Pucallpa, where he is scheduled to celebrate Mass at Aliardo Soria Pérez Stadium and visit Pucallpa Cathedral. His departure from Peru is expected on November 17, after returning to Lima.

Authorities across the country have already begun preparing for the historic visit. Government agencies are coordinating logistics, transportation, security, and event organization, while Church leaders describe the pope's return as a message of hope and renewal for Peru. His visit is expected to attract thousands of faithful from across the country and international visitors who wish to witness one of Peru's most significant events of 2026.
