Peruvian Paso Horse Parade in Lima’s Historic Center

Lima’s Historic Center will be filled with Peruvian music, dance and tradition on Sunday, November 8, with a free parade featuring the Peruvian Paso Horse, marinera dancers and female horse riders known as amazonas.

The parade will start at 12:00 p.m. and is open to everyone. It will be a chance for visitors and local families to enjoy some of Peru’s best-known traditions in the heart of the capital.

The event will also be a preview of two national competitions taking place on November 21 and 22 at Fundo Mamacona in Lurín, south of Lima: the 15th National Marinera on Horseback and on Foot Competition, and the 11th National Amazonas Choreography Competition.

The Peruvian Paso Horse is famous for its special way of walking, while marinera is one of Peru’s most popular traditional dances. Both are an important part of the country’s cultural heritage.
