Peru’s Sacred Valley Earns a Place on Wanderlust’s Travel Green List 2026

The Sacred Valley of the Incas has been recognized by British travel magazine Wanderlust as one of Latin America's standout destinations for sustainable tourism in 2026. The destination was included in the publication’s Travel Green List, which highlights places around the world that combine responsible travel, cultural preservation, and positive community impact.

According to the list, the recognition focuses on communities around Ollantaytambo and the Patacancha Valley, where local artisans continue to preserve traditional Andean weaving techniques passed down through generations. Visitors can take part in cultural experiences that support Indigenous communities while learning about the region’s ancestral traditions.

Wanderlust selected 101 destinations and initiatives worldwide that demonstrate strong commitments to sustainability, environmental protection, and local well-being. The inclusion of Peru’s Sacred Valley reflects a growing interest among travelers in experiences that go beyond sightseeing and create meaningful connections with local cultures.

For travelers exploring Cusco and Machu Picchu, the Sacred Valley continues to offer a deeper look into the living traditions of the Andes, where ancient knowledge remains an important part of everyday life.
