Peru is reinforcing its position as a leading destination for meetings tourism in South America, highlighting its infrastructure, hospitality and range of tourism experiences for international congresses, conventions and professional events.
The country recently showcased this potential during the 42nd International Congress of the International Federation of Associations of Executive Tourism Companies (FIASEET 2026), held in Ica. The event brought together tourism professionals and representatives from Spain, Mexico, Panama, Uruguay, Brazil, Chile and Argentina, as well as representatives from Peru's convention bureaus.
According to Peru's Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur), Ica offers hotels in the three-, four- and five-star categories, meeting rooms with capacity for up to 600 people, and a variety of experiences that can complement a professional event. Its landscapes, wineries, Pisco tradition and gastronomy were also highlighted as part of the destination's appeal.
Mincetur also pointed to Lima, Cusco, Arequipa and Iquitos as destinations with potential to attract meetings and professional events. The goal is to continue strengthening cooperation between the public and private sectors, convention bureaus and tourism businesses to create new opportunities in this growing segment.
The development of meetings tourism gives international visitors the opportunity to combine business events with cultural, gastronomic and leisure experiences, allowing destinations across Peru to become part of a broader travel experience.
