Peru has once again been recognized on the global tourism stage, receiving several nominations at the World Travel Awards 2026, often referred to as the “Oscars of Tourism.”
The country is competing in multiple major categories that highlight its diverse travel offering. These include World’s Leading Culinary Destination, World’s Leading Cultural Destination, and World’s Leading Destination. In addition, Machu Picchu has been nominated as World’s Leading Tourist Attraction, one of the most prestigious individual recognitions in global tourism.
Other nominations include World’s Leading Green Destination, World’s Leading Cruise Destination, and World’s Leading Heritage City Destination, represented by Lima. PromPerú, the country’s tourism promotion agency, is also nominated as World’s Leading Tourist Board.
These nominations reflect Peru’s continued global appeal, combining culture, gastronomy, nature, and history in one destination. In past editions, the country has received multiple awards, especially in culinary and cultural categories, reinforcing its strong reputation among international travelers.
