Peru Celebrates National Tourism Day

Every year on July 7, Peru celebrates National Tourism Day, commemorating the date when Machu Picchu was named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in 2007. The occasion highlights the importance of tourism in promoting Peru's cultural heritage, natural beauty, and diverse destinations.

The commemorative date was officially established by law in 2021 and has been observed annually since 2022. Its goal is to recognize tourism as a key driver of sustainable development, job creation, and economic opportunities for communities across the country.

To mark this celebration, Peru's Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) reaffirmed its commitment to promoting sustainable, inclusive, and decentralized tourism. The ministry also encouraged travelers to discover the country's rich history, vibrant cultures, and extraordinary landscapes while supporting local communities.

From the Pacific coast and the Andes to the Amazon rainforest, Peru offers experiences for every type of traveler. National Tourism Day serves as a reminder that every journey through Peru also contributes to preserving its heritage and supporting the people who make each destination unique.
