Machu Picchu Welcomes Peak Travel Season as Visitor Capacity Increases

Starting June 19, Machu Picchu officially enters its peak travel season, increasing its daily visitor capacity from 4,600 to 5,600 people. The temporary measure is designed to accommodate the higher number of travelers expected during the busiest months of the year in Peru.

The increase comes as visitor demand continues to grow throughout the dry season, which runs from May to September and is considered one of the best times to visit the Andes. During this period, travelers can usually enjoy clearer skies and favorable conditions for exploring Machu Picchu, Cusco, and the Sacred Valley.

Authorities expect the additional capacity to help more visitors secure entry tickets during the high season. Even with the increase, advance reservations are still recommended, especially for travelers planning to visit during holidays, festivals, or the peak months of July and August.

As one of the world's most iconic archaeological sites, Machu Picchu continues to attract visitors from across the globe. The start of the peak season marks the beginning of a busy period for tourism in the Cusco region, where travelers can experience Inca history, mountain landscapes, and vibrant local culture.
