Cusco to Celebrate Qhaswa Raymi 2026 with Parade and Timpu Festival

Cusco, one of Peru’s most iconic cultural destinations, will host the Qhaswa Raymi 2026, a traditional celebration featuring a grand parade and the Festival of the Timpu, honoring ancestral Andean traditions and community identity. The event highlights the region’s rich cultural heritage and brings together local groups, dancers, and musicians for a vibrant display of ritual and festivity.

The celebration includes a large procession through the streets of Cusco, where participants dressed in traditional attire take part in choreographed movements that reflect centuries-old customs. The event also incorporates the Festival of the Timpu, a cultural gathering where rituals, music, and communal participation celebrate agricultural cycles, social bonds, and Andean worldview.

Authorities and organizers emphasize that Qhaswa Raymi not only preserves ancestral practices but also strengthens community ties and promotes cultural tourism in the region. Visitors and residents alike are invited to experience the authenticity of Andean cosmology and the colorful atmosphere of this important festival.

As part of Cusco’s rich calendar of cultural events — alongside other festivals and traditional celebrations — Qhaswa Raymi offers travelers a unique opportunity to witness living heritage and deepen their understanding of Peru’s indigenous legacy.
