Although the film refers to this festival, it focuses mainly on the ceremony held in the Plaza de Armas, leaving aside the other two impressive locations that are the Qoricancha and Sacsayhuaman, as the producers were not aware that this takes place in 3 stages.

  • Qoricancha: The temple of the sun takes place in the film when connections are found between some symbols and the statue of an eagle.
  • Plaza de armas: En el camino para llegar al templo del Qoricancha pasando entre la multitud reunida en la Plaza de Armas, donde se está llevando a cabo el Inti Raymi.
  • Sacsayhuaman: Arriving in the fascinating city of Cusco, the autobots descend on the imposing remains of the ancient ceremonial center of Sacsayhuaman, from where they get a privileged panoramic view of the city, a perfect setting to plot their next moves and strategies with precision.
  • Machu Picchu: As expected, one of the best action scenes takes place in Machu Picchu.
  • Tarapoto: Although Tarapoto does not belong to the department of Cusco, its impressive tropical forests will be the perfect setting to represent the habitat of the interesting animals we will see in the film.

Filming “Transformers” at Machu Picchu was no easy task. The production team had to carefully coordinate shots to preserve the integrity of the site and minimize any impact on the ancient structures. Special measures were implemented to protect and conserve the cultural heritage while filming took place.
