You will find yourself surrounded by gorgeous views overlooking the Sacred Valley and the snow-capped peak of Salkantay dominating the western horizon. This excursion combines Incan ruins with a typical Andean village, a colonial church, some wonderful mountain landscapes, and a colorful traditional market.
We continue on to visit the sites of the Maras salt mines and the circular ruins of Moray. En route, you will have one of the best panoramic views of the valley. First, we will stop at the ancient salt mines, near the town of Maras, then, the huge circular agricultural terraces at Moray built by the Incas in natural sinkholes on a limestone plateau overlooking the Urubamba Valley. Afterward we will head to your beautiful hotel in the Sacred Valley.

Option 2: Visit Chinchero and have a traditional Pachamanca at the Laguna of Piuray

In the morning, we set out for a short drive to the small pueblo of Chinchero known for its amazing weaving community and other Inca textiles. Appreciate and participate in the process of how these weavings have been done since before Inca times.

After, we will visit the ancient lake of Piuray and participate in a Pachamanca. This is a pre-Inca tradition where you build an oven out of stones taken from the river. As a guide helps you to carefully place each stone in its place to create a circular rock oven, you will take in some breathtaking view of the lake and the Sacred Valley. Build a fire inside the oven and have time to relax as your feast cooks. In a short time, you will be enjoying a traditional meal on the banks of this special lake.
